My 7 Goals of Language Learning
March 22 2022

My 7 Goals of Language Learning

CC subtitles available in English. My 7 language learning goals: 0:00 1. Acquire words. Passive vocabulary is the best measure of my potential in a language. 3:17 2. Read a lot. Reading is easier to understand than listening.  I may read new material or re-read old material, but I read every day. 3:54 3. Listen everywhere. I listen every day, either repeatedly as a beginner, or more extensively as I progress in a language. 4:57 4. Speak when I have the chance. With enough input, I find it easier to speak and do so without worrying about how I do. 5:29 5. Focus on grammar at the right time. With enough exposure to the language, enough errors in speaking, I circle back to improve my usage. 6:35 6. Write as required. Writing is a great way to improve but how much I write depends on my needs. 7:22 7. Culture. My ultimate goal in learning a language is to connect with the culture and history of the language. I can start doing this at any time, but fid it most satisfying only after I have achieved a good level of comprehension and familiarity with the language. ___ Study a language on LingQ: https://bit.ly/37TS3sX Study this video as a lesson on LingQ: https://bit.ly/3L3eIkP My Podcast: Soundcloud: https://bit.ly/3iZsbic Apple: https://apple.co/3z1F1lD Google: https://bit.ly/2W3DYmK Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4TbcX8ilVmVTi6jdQVHuwK Get my 10 Secrets of Language Learning: https://www.thelinguist.com FREE grammar guides: https://www.lingq.com/en/grammar-resource/ Join the LingQ Discord server: https://discord.gg/ShPTjyhwTN My language learning blog on The Linguist: https://bit.ly/2MW83Ab My Instagram page: https://www.instagram.com/lingosteve_/ My TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@lingosteve The LingQ language learning blog: https://bit.ly/35yvaqK #languagelearning #languages #polyglot
