🤔 Don't doubt yourself when speaking a language! Trust your instincts and use the word, phrase, or structure that feels right. You may be wrong, but then you learn! Hesitation and overthinking are the real killers. They block your progress and slow you down.

📚 A lot of language learning resources make false promises like ”Get to B2 after completing this book!” The truth is that the brain needs MASSIVE quantities of input (listening and reading content) to get used to a language. One book or course will NEVER be enough. You need to read and listen widely so your brain can acquire vocabulary and make sense of the underlying patterns. Fortunately, modern technology is moving language learning forward, unlocking all the input we could ever want!

🤪 I just spoke to a dental assistant that spent 5 years studying dentistry in Poland but never learned any Polish. And that was true of the other North Americans in his program, too. I've only spent 6 days in Poland, but thanks to lots of Polish listening and reading right here in Canada, I have acquired a decent amount of the language. I am frequently astounded by how little interest most people seem to have in learning languages, despite living abroad for many years. Perhaps I am just a language freak...

📕 The smaller grammar book, the better. Keep things Simple. You may need to understand some more complicated constructions in the language you're learning, but you don't need to consciously KNOW the rules to FOLLOW the rules.
