🤪 I just spoke to a dental assistant that spent 5 years studying dentistry in Poland but never learned any Polish. And that was true of the other North Americans in his program, too. I've only spent 6 days in Poland, but thanks to lots of Polish listening and reading right here in Canada, I have acquired a decent amount of the language. I am frequently astounded by how little interest most people seem to have in learning languages, despite living abroad for many years. Perhaps I am just a language freak...

📕 The smaller grammar book, the better. Keep things Simple. You may need to understand some more complicated constructions in the language you're learning, but you don't need to consciously KNOW the rules to FOLLOW the rules.

Others think they are waste of time. What's my take? I've learned 20 languages so far in my life, but have only relied on spaced repetition for a few specific needs in language learning.
